Party Ideas For 13 Year Olds

Wednesday, March 14th, 2012

There are many different party ideas for 13 year olds. You can come up with themes party either for girls or boys which can indicate the milestone in their lives. As anyone who’s seen the movie “Thirteen” can attest, becoming a teenager is a critical moment in a young person’s life. It marks the transition from child to adolescent, and the whimsical themes of birthday parties past simply won’t do. Even if the birthday boy or girl is still a child at heart, the embarrassment factor comes in, and appearing “cool” is everything. Hosting a home party for your 13-year-old can be frustrating. You can’t follow the same guidelines you’ve been using for years; as the Birthday Party Games Lady website says, “Piñatas and a pizza just do not cut it anymore.” And yet the birthday boy and his guests aren’t quite adults, either, so a formal dinner party would be met with lots of eye-rolling. So why not simple cake-and-gifts ceremonies have shortly after guests arrive and then recruit a couple of fellow parents as chaperones and drivers for a birthday party field trip? If you have a theme park nearby, many offer significant group discounts. If not, then how about the local bowling alley, game arcade or go-kart track? If it’s a summer birthday, organize a beach party or a kayak flotilla on the lake or bay; in the winter, simply treat everyone to a movie. Turning 13 is a real milestone birthday, marking the transition from childhood to the beginnings of adulthood. Make the birthday boy feel grown-up by hosting a coed dance at a local hotel. Rent a portion of a ballroom–how big and how grand depends on your budget–hire a deejay and you’re on your way. Make sure the deejay knows the age of the participants and plays appropriate music. And be sure you have at least a couple of fellow parent chaperons on hand. You don’t want to be overly intrusive, but you do want to keep an eye on things. Coming up with a home party theme might be a little more trying than it used to be, but use your imagination and you’d be surprised at what you might come up with. Focus on making the kids feel “grown up,” and play into their interests. By the time they turn 13; most kids love a good mystery, so consider throwing a murder mystery party. Send out invitations, informing each guest of his or her “character,” and then when the guests have all arrived, start the fun. Be sure to study up on the rules beforehand. If you have a pool, consider a coed Hawaiian luau. Luau parties have been enjoyed by adults for years, and your 13-year-old and his guests will love it as well, particularly if you serve frothy tropical drinks (sans alcohol, of course). Thirteen-year-olds also love video games, and while many parents bemoan the hours their children spend in a dark room, blowing things up, staging a tournament can actually be quite fun for everyone involved, even the organizers. Pick something like Rock Band, Guitar Hero or Wii Fitness, and award a prize to the winner–maybe a copy of the game. You’d be surprised at how much fun this can be–and if you have the patience and don’t mind missing a night of sleep, top it off with a sleepover. Besides that, many 12- and 13-year-old girls enjoy active parties that get them out into the world. The birthday girl and her friends might enjoy a day at an amusement park or a night at a sporting event. If they’re outdoorsy and ambitious, you could take them to a rock gym or another indoor adventure park. They might even enjoy a simple hike and a picnic in a nearby forest or park–and you could surprise the kids by bringing along a birthday cake and some sparkling apple cider.

Ladybug Party Ideas Part 1

Thursday, March 8th, 2012

Ladybug party ideas include several considerations like any other party such as the decorations, invitations, food and drinks, party supplies, and also the games and activities for the party. They are suitable for kids, especially little girls, who like ladybug. The ladybug party theme is ideal for spring and summer party ideas. We see these cute little bugs every year and most people love them. How many insects can you say that about? When we see these little ladies dressed in their red and black uniforms we know spring has sprung and we look forward to more warm days. A ladybug theme party makes a good birthday party choice for infants, toddlers and elementary school children, especially little girls, who love the pretty polka-dotted bugs. Make your own party invitations with some red, black and white construction paper and some goodly eyes. Cut out a round or oval shape with one of the colors, make small circle cut outs with the other color. Glue the spots on to the back of your invitation. Glue on the eyes on and make some thin cuts of black paper to be antenna and glue them in place. Write all the party info on the white paper and glue it on the underside of the invitation. You can also use ladybug stickers to decorate your paper. For the party decorations, black and red is the obvious and attractive color scheme for this party theme, along with green for grass. You can also combine red and pink in the party decorations, for example by having a red tablecloth with pink napkins or using a combination of pink and red balloons or streamers. Make food and drink a part of the decorations, especially if the party is being held for an older child, who will appreciate an attractive snacks table. Set out pitchers of red fruit punch, plates of watermelon slices and bowls of strawberries and jars of red and black or red and pink jelly beans and red and black licorice. For the rest of the party supplies needed with the ladybug theme, get matching paper plates, cake plates, drinking cups and napkins. Do not forget the matching balloons and especially the piñatas; it will be the main décor of the party. If your budget will permit it, get a specially made ladybug cake. If not, you may opt for red cupcakes with black candy sprinkles instead. You can make fun of this party theme by creating games and activities related to the theme. Scatter the children around the party area and play some music. An ideal song would be a children’s song about ladybugs. Have the children flutter around the room like ladybugs. When the music goes off, the “ladybugs” have to freeze and be completely still until the music comes back on. Any player caught moving while the music is off is out of the game. Award a prize to the last player standing. Ladybug spot relay race can bring a lot of fun to the children. Divide the players into two teams and have them line up at a starting line. Place a cone about 15 feet away from the starting line. Give the first player in each team line two black construction paper dots. When you say, “Race,” the players must use the “ladybug dots” to walk around the cone and back. They must place one dot in front of the other to walk on only the dots. Players cannot touch the ground. Each player in line must do the same thing. The first team to finish the ladybug spot relay race wins the game. Another interesting game is the ladybug tic-tac-toe. Use rope to create a large tic-tac-toe board. If you do not have rope, use sidewalk chalk on concrete. Mark a standing line about 10 feet from the board (adjust the line closer for young children and farther away for older children). Have two players stand at the line. Give one player six red beanbags and the other player six black beanbags. For added decoration, paint red dots on the black beanbags and black dots on the red beanbags. Have the players toss the beanbags onto the board. The first player to get a tic-tac-toe wins the game.

Masquerade Party Ideas

Tuesday, February 21st, 2012

Masquerade party ideas are very popular around the world and organizing this type of party requires some planning and considerations like decorations, themes, food and drinks for the party, costumes, invitations, tableware, party favors and also the activities for the party. The Masquerade party has been going on for centuries! They originated in Venice as a way for the upper classes to indulge in immoral practices without fear of being found out. They managed to do this by wearing masks and concealing their identities. However in recent times the masquerade party has declined in Venice but has more recently re-immerged and is now popular all throughout the world. In Venice there are many shops that specialize in Masquerade masks, which are often hand crafted in the store. The basic element of this kind of party is the mask. Also known as masquerade ball masks, these disguises cover part or all of the face with the intention of hiding the identity of the wearer. There are a variety of types of these masks including half face masks and full face Venetian style masks. They can be very basic with just a single base color and surrounding only the part of the face around the eyes. However, they can also be extreme with multiple colors, strange shapes, and a variety of add-ons for flair (like huge feathers!). If you want your party to be a little more formal, you can lean more toward a masquerade ball. It has the same basic rules, but usually includes more specific rules for the mask and may include other attire rules, like suits and ties for men and dresses only for women. These are usually a little lower key because of the formality, so if you’re looking for a crazier idea you should go with the standard masquerade party rules. To setup your party correctly, you really just need to plan a party like you normally would be give the guests a little more direction. If you don’t explicitly direct them, they will show up without a mask and ruin the mood of the party. With your invitation, whether verbal or written, tell them that a mask (and perhaps a matching costume) is required for entry into the party. If you have an additional theme or color scheme in mind, make sure to mention that as well. After that we have to concentrate on fitting decoration on the theme. Be delicate with our decorations and their placement. A few attractive, well-placed decorations go a long way to locale the theme. The costumes are the genuine idol of the event, decorations just improve the mood. Budget will also play a big role in the decision-making process. Mainly for the decorations of Masquerade Ball we have to consider the colors, the shape, textures, lighting and costumes as well to sure our invitations to them. Having a party is fun, but without the food, your party will go downhill. Try putting in a variety of food like pizza or pasta, as you can be sure that all of your guests will enjoy those things. Try to mix everything up and to incorporate different types of food and drinks, so that your party caters even to the pickiest eaters. How annoying is it to invite somebody and find out that he or she doesn’t even like any of the food at your party? So create a variety of food at your party and it will be a success. If you’ll have a large crowd, you may want to assign guests to seats by using personalized seating cards. Decorate the table with masquerade party supplies and purple, green and gold fabrics and add gold paper supplies and gilded china to make the table sparkle. Add enchanting Mardi Gras beads, coin necklaces and lots of confetti to brighten up your table! One centerpiece suggestion is to make a large bouquet of feather-decorated masks and add some Mardi Gras balloon clusters and other masquerade party decorations. Offer each guest a small party favors as a thank-you note for coming. Some ideas include colorful Mardi Gras beads, decorated masks, party photos and other masquerade party supplies! This will surely be a fun and interesting party for them.

Party Appetizer Ideas

Friday, January 27th, 2012

Party appetizer ideas include a few criteria to be considered. There are also many ways to prepare for the party appetizers and, most of the time; it depends on the nature of the party to be held. When it comes to hosting a party, we are often at a loss as to what we can serve as the party appetizer. What is an Appetizer? An Appetizer is a food or beverage that is served before the start of a meal, at a special party or at a business event. The purpose of an Appetizer is to stimulate your appetite, hence the name Appetizer. When it comes to serving appetizers, they don’t need to be fancy. They can be spreads, dips, cheese balls, seafood, caviar, party breads and other small foods to whet your appetite. The whole concept regarding appetizer ideas deals with how you manage & plan your party. You have to organize all appetizer ideas and also consider timesaving tips for such appetizers such as preparation tips of all the appetizer recipes, different serving techniques along with various appetizer recipes. You should also try out different suggestions regarding serving food to implement better appetizer ideas for such parties. When you want to be the perfect host, you should interact with your guests and not spend all your time cooking. You should do thorough planning 2 to 3 days before the party. So firstly, you have to decide what types of dips & dishes you want to feed your guests. Marinate everything few days before the party and keep them in your freezer. Secondly, the all salad vegetables should be taken care of such as slicing of vegetables like onions, tomatoes & carrots should be done in advance & stored in the plastic bags or particular in the crisper of your refrigerator. You can bring together these salad material according to need in that party. You can even serve appetizers according to the themes you want to implement in your party. Before the night of party, you can set out the entire china or paper cutlery, along with mini-barbeques and fondue bowls that are used for serving appetizers at parties. Crostini look and sound complex, but are easy to assemble. Start with pre-made crostini or make your own by slicing narrow French bread and toasting them in the oven. A dusting of dry salad dressing mix makes a zesty seasoning for the bread. Finish each slice by adding a variety of toppings. For a fresh taste, cut up tomatoes, mix them with olive oil, basil, and salt. You can also toss in beans, corn, and cut-up avocado for a more Southwestern flair. For a heartier appetizer, use a piece of folded deli ham topped with a piece of Swiss cheese. If you are very short on time, make crock pot meatballs. Put the meatballs going ahead of time in your crock pot; they can cook while you are at work or getting ready for the party. When they are done, leave them in the pot on low heat so they stay warm. Pile the meatballs on serving trays. Include a dish of toothpicks and a pot of dipping sauce like barbecue or salad dressing so guests can eat them easily without making a mess. The second part of the appetizer ideas contain management of the preparations, which you make for the parties. So while executing these ideas the main concern should be management of timing in that party. In addition, there should be proper handling of every department of party by a competent person. For sweets and deserts, there should be three to five people. In beverages, there should be serving of one cup of beverages for one person in one hour. Sometimes you can serve wine also according to desire of guests. So in beverages, wine should be considered along with cocktails and mock tails. Apart from the cold drinks, you can serve tea & coffee, which should be half cup for every guest in such party. Third criteria of appetizer idea for a party are the question that what should we serve to such party guests. Because there are several guests who like something different, therefore, the best solution for this there should be various appetizer menus with different & attractive flavors.

Friday, January 13th, 2012

Party snack ideas are important to any party and it consists of many different options such as finger foods and other packaged snacks. It can be healthy as well by making your own snacks with fruits and other materials. When it comes to any party, food and snacks are important. That is why you may be trying to decide which food and snacks, you should have at your next party. As you will likely see, you have an unlimited number of different options. When we talk about snacks, we will normally think of it as an unhealthy food. But snacks can be healthy too when you actually take the time and think about it. Children require healthy foods in their growing ages. Their growing bodies and minds need the right kind of nutrition. Unfortunately, this is also the age when children get swayed by commercials and may start to enjoy junk foods more than they should. To make sure that your child continues to eat healthy and does not get obese at such a tender age, you should introduce him/her to healthy kid’s snacks. Children love finger foods, and the best way to keep them healthy is to give them snacks which are nutritious. This not only keeps their hunger under control, but also improves their immunity and teaches them to eat healthy from a very young age. As an example, a grill will be your best cooking tool for your party. For a large, filling snack, make pork and pineapple kabobs. You can use pork loin cut into one inch cubes and topped with salt and pepper, or use pre-cooked ham cut into one inch cubes. Cut up a fresh pineapple into pieces about the same size as the pork. Include some fresh red bell peppers to add color and cut them into one inch pieces. Grab a kabob skewer and slide on a piece pineapple, a piece of pork or ham and then a piece of red pepper. Repeat this until the kabob is full. Grill until the pork loin is cooked through. If you are using ham simply cook until everything is heated through. Serve the kabobs to your guests on the skewers or slide the pieces off onto individual plates. Create a pineapple and bacon snack by cutting up one-inch cubes of fresh pineapple. Wrap each piece with a thin slice of bacon. Cook the bacon-wrapped pineapple pieces in a grill pan on the outdoor grill or bake them on a baking sheet in your oven at 350 degrees until the bacon reaches desired crispiness. Turn once while grilling or baking for even cooking. Arrange on a platter with toothpicks to serve. If you’d rather not do a lot of cooking, baking or grilling stop by the local deli and pick up some ham salad, sliced pineapple and your favorite loaf bread. Make large sandwiches with two pieces of bread and ham salad topped with a slice of well-drained pineapple. Cut the sandwiches into smaller, bite-size finger sandwiches and serve on a platter for snacking. Besides that, fruit salad is always a winner at any party. Chop up fresh pineapple, papaya, bananas and kiwi and serve the salad in a decorative bowl. Top it with a sprinkle of shredded coconut or chopped fresh mint for a different twist. For another fruit option, cut a fresh pineapple into large, long slices. Place them on the grill and cook until the pineapple until it is heated through and the sugars begin to caramelize. Pull the pineapple slices off the grill, sprinkle them with cinnamon and chop them into pieces to eat with toothpicks while it’s still warm. Macadamia nuts made a great snack by themselves, but they can also be put into baked goods to give your sweets a Hawaiian touch. Make chocolate chip cookies and add in a half cup of chopped macadamia nuts before baking. Prepare some brownies with coconut and chopped macadamia nut, and then cut them into small bite-sized snack pieces. The best healthy kids snack recipes are those which are closest to their natural state. Given their way, children would love to grow up on a diet of bread, biscuits and junk food which are all addictive. So let’s make junk healthy.

One of the most important aspects of a sweet 16 party like this is assembling the perfect guest list. Avoid the temptation to invite a lot of other adults or small children. The list really goes on and on, as far as the birthday girl’s imagination can take her. Sweet 16 Party Sweet 16 Glow Party Sweet 16 Birthday Party Sweet 16 Birthday Cake Party planners will take the theme into consideration when determining everything else for the Sweet Sixteen celebration including, exterior and interior wall decorations, centerpieces, thank you gifts/prizes, and food and drink menu. Would you consider bringing in a cotton candy or pop corn machine, or having live fish swim around in your centerpieces? Think outside of the box!
